Advance Replacement (RMA) for Transceivers: Cross-Ship

Advance replacement RMA (cross-ship): get the replacement transceiver before returning the unit and cut downtime. Typical dispatch in 48h*. Talk to an engineer.

Advance replacement (RMA)

Advance replacement (RMA) is the process EON uses to reduce downtime on critical optical connectivity components. EON validates the case, coordinates dispatch of the replacement transceiver and manages the return of the affected unit according to coverage, availability and the conditions of the service. It is advance hardware replacement designed for optical modules.

How cross-ship works

With cross-ship, EON can dispatch the replacement before receiving the damaged part, once the case is validated. The network returns to operation without waiting for the return to complete, minimizing downtime. Dispatch remains subject to inventory, coverage, logistics validation and import conditions when they apply.

Scope: transceivers and equipment covered

The transceiver RMA covers compatible optical transceivers in SFP, SFP+, SFP28, QSFP+ and QSFP28 form factors, for multivendor infrastructures. It applies to network equipment and platforms from brands such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, HPE/Aruba, Dell, Huawei, MikroTik, Extreme and Fortinet, among others. Compatibility validated by model, firmware, port and optical part number.

Warranty: product and service

Every transceiver includes a 1- to 5-year product warranty depending on the part number, with traceability by serial number. This product warranty is independent. A transceiver recoding carries its own 90-day service coverage. The usual exclusions are physical damage, use outside the reported conditions or handling by third parties. Check the warranty verification to review your case.

How to request an RMA, step by step

  1. Report: you share the serial number, the proof of purchase or invoice and the description of the failure through contact.
  2. Diagnosis and RMA number: EON validates eligibility and issues the RMA number.
  3. Replacement shipment: with cross-ship, we coordinate the replacement with typical dispatch in 48h*, subject to the conditions of the service.
  4. Return: we manage the return of the affected unit under the same RMA number.

*Subject to inventory, destination country, carrier, customs, the customer’s import process and third-party logistics conditions.

RMA vs repair vs standard replacement

RMA with cross-ship prioritizes restoring operation as soon as possible. A repair works on the same unit and takes longer. A standard replacement requires returning the affected part first. EON recommends the modality according to criticality, inventory and coverage.

Who it is for

For operators, integrators and IT teams that need to keep active optical links running with significant savings compared with the OEM module. EON serves Latin America and Spain from a centralized operation in Colombia, with engineering support before and after purchase.

Frequently asked questions

What is advance replacement (RMA) and how does it differ from a standard warranty or repair?

Advance replacement (RMA) is a cross-ship process: once EON validates the case, it coordinates dispatch of the replacement transceiver before receiving the affected unit, to reduce network downtime. It differs from a repair, which works on the same part and takes longer, and from a standard replacement, which requires returning the affected unit first. A transceiver recoding carries 90-day service coverage. The product warranty of the transceiver runs from 1 to 5 years depending on the part number and is independent.

How long does EON take to ship the replacement transceiver with cross-ship?

EON gives an initial response to the case typically within 24 business hours*, subject to the information provided. With cross-ship, the replacement is dispatched once the case is validated, with typical dispatch in 48h*. No absolute deadline is promised: dispatch remains subject to inventory, coverage, logistics validation and import and customs conditions when they apply. EON serves Latin America and Spain from a centralized operation in Colombia.

Which transceivers and network equipment does the EON transceiver RMA cover (compatible SFP/SFP+/QSFP and brands)?

The RMA covers compatible optical transceivers in SFP, SFP+, SFP28, QSFP+ and QSFP28 form factors, for multivendor infrastructures. We work with network equipment and platforms from brands such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, HPE/Aruba, Dell, Huawei, MikroTik, Extreme and Fortinet, among others. Compatibility is validated by model, firmware, port and optical part number.

What do I need to request an RMA: serial number, proof of purchase, and how is the RMA number issued?

To start an RMA you need the module serial number, the proof of purchase or invoice and a description of the failure. With that data, EON validates the eligibility of the case and issues the RMA number that identifies and tracks the replacement. That number travels with the replacement shipment and with the return of the affected unit.
