Extreme Networks equipment families and their operating system

The matrix segments by family and OS because behavior toward third-party modules changes between lines:

  • ExtremeSwitching X-series on ExtremeXOS (EXOS 31.x/32.x): X435, X440-G2, X450-G2, X460-G2, X465, X590, X620, X690, X695 and X870. On EXOS, the system’s validation list can disable a port when it detects a module outside that list; that is why we adapt and validate compatibility per port.
  • Legacy VOSS / VSP series lines and the SLX family: the SLX9640 runs SLX-OS and the Extreme 7520 operates on Fabric Engine. Since these are operating systems other than ExtremeXOS, they are validated separately.

Which form factor and speed does each port on my Extreme equipment use (X440-G2, X465, X695, X870)?
