Extreme Networks compatible SFP matrix by model and part number
This matrix is the quick lookup reference for choosing the correct compatible transceiver for your Extreme Networks equipment model and the OEM part number you already have installed. If you need the “how” (ExtremeXOS commands, enabling the port and the cost advantage over the OEM), see the transceiver recoding service for Extreme Networks; this page is the technical index for locating the equivalent by model and by part number.
Compatibility validated by model, firmware, port and optical part number. We operate on multivendor infrastructure and we adapt and validate compatibility for every module before dispatch.
Extreme Networks equipment families and their operating system
The matrix segments by family and OS because behavior toward third-party modules changes between lines:
- ExtremeSwitching X-series on ExtremeXOS (EXOS 31.x/32.x): X435, X440-G2, X450-G2, X460-G2, X465, X590, X620, X690, X695 and X870. On EXOS, the system’s validation list can disable a port when it detects a module outside that list; that is why we adapt and validate compatibility per port.
- Legacy VOSS / VSP series lines and the SLX family: the SLX9640 runs SLX-OS and the Extreme 7520 operates on Fabric Engine. Since these are operating systems other than ExtremeXOS, they are validated separately.
Supported form factors by model
Each model exposes different ports and speeds; ordering the correct form factor avoids mechanical incompatibilities:
- SFP (1G) and SFP+ (10G): X435, X440-G2 (4x SFP+), X450-G2, X460-G2.
- SFP28 (25G) and QSFP28 (100G): X465-48W, X590, X690, X695.
- QSFP+ (40G) / QSFP28 (100G) / 25G: X690, X870.
- DAC and AOC for short-reach interconnection in spine/leaf topologies.
Cross-reference: Extreme OEM part number to compatible EON equivalent
Locate your Extreme part number and read its equivalent, for example the SFP+ 10GBASE-SR equivalent to the Extreme 10301:

This table is representative; send us the exact part number to confirm the equivalent and its full row.
What we validate before dispatch
For each row we confirm four variables: equipment model, firmware/OS (ExtremeXOS 31.x/32.x, SLX-OS or VOSS), physical port and optical part number: wavelength (850/1310/1550 nm), reach and standard (SR/LR/ER/ZR, from 300 m to 40-80 km), fiber type (MMF OM3/OM4 or SMF) and connector (duplex LC, simplex LC BiDi or RJ45), with optical diagnostics (DDM/DOM). That is how we deliver modules with compatibility validated by model, firmware, port and optical part number.
Deployment scenarios as a filter
Use the scenario to narrow the matrix: university campus (distribution and PoE access with SFP+/25G uplinks), hospital and public health networks across Latin America, and data center and ISP core/spine at 40G/100G. EON serves Latin America and Spain from a centralized operation in Colombia.
Before ordering
- Identify your Extreme model and its OS/firmware.
- Take the OEM part number (10301, 10302, 10064H, etc.) or the port form factor.
- Locate the row in the table or request the equivalent.
Browse the product catalog or review the transceiver recoding service for Extreme Networks for third-party modules we adapt and validate. The cost advantage over the OEM is meaningful. Typical dispatch in 48h*.
