The recoding is validated on the platform and under the conditions reported at the time of the service. EON covers the operation of the recoding for 90 days, as long as those conditions remain unchanged. Later changes of equipment, brand, operating system, firmware or intended use may require a new validation or recoding.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use an SFP from another brand in Cisco network equipment?
Yes, as long as the module is compatible with that platform. Some equipment applies a proprietary check of the module identifier (outside the MSA standard); for those cases, transceiver recoding adapts and validates the profile so the transceiver integrates into the equipment, keeping its optical specifications intact.
Does recoding change the optical performance of the module?
No. The work is done on the identification and on the compatibility validation with the specified platform; the wavelength, reach and fiber type of the module are not modified, and DOM/DDM readings are preserved.
What coverage does the transceiver recoding service have?
EON covers the operation of the recoding for 90 days, as long as the conditions reported at the time of the service remain unchanged. Changes of equipment, brand, firmware or intended use may require a new validation. The transceiver product warranty (1- to 5-year product warranty) is separate.
