What is an SFP28 transceiver?
SFP28 modules (25G SFP28 transceivers) are the hot-swappable optics for 25 Gbps (25GbE) links, defined by the IEEE 802.3by standard. They keep the SFP and SFP+ form factor, which allows very high front-panel density, and they are the basis of server-to-network connections, data center leaf-spine architectures and 5G fronthaul.

SFP28 variants: SR, LR and BiDi
- SFP28 duplex (LC): 25GBASE-SR (multimode, short reach) and LR (single-mode, up to 10 km).
- SFP28 BiDi: transmits and receives over a single fiber with two wavelengths, halving the fiber count in fronthaul and access links where fiber is limited.
Every part number includes DDM/DOM for real-time monitoring of optical power, temperature and voltage.
